Fall 2023

DeWitt will once again be exhibiting at the ARTS rug show in Fall 2023. DeWitt Mallary started collecting Baluch rugs almost 40 years ago, and has been a dealer in a wide variety of antique weaving for just about the last twenty. He has written and lectured, primarily about Baluch rugs, around the US and Europe, including presenting and curating exhibitions at ICOC, ACOR, and the Textile Museum. He edited the English edition of Jurg Rageth’s Turkmen Carpets: A New Perspective, and teaches assorted rug courses at Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Dartmouth. He has been an exhibitor at many fairs in the US and Europe, and is particularly happy to have helped build a number of important collections.

James bought thoughtfully and with good taste from a wide range of knowledgeable dealers, and only occasionally at auction. Having been one of those dealers who helped James build his collection, I am honored to be handling the dispersal of the collection.
