Baluch red ground gurbaghe gul rug 485

Size: 3’4 x 5’1

Age: second half 19th century

A very nicely drawn red ground Baluch rug with a filed design of rows of three different Turkmen derived elements. Based on field design, and the design and corrosion of the brown ground of the border, and the weave and handle, this is clearly from the same group as the more numerous white ground “gurbaghe gul” rugs.
